ÓNA Philosophy
Óna makes ageless, enduring clothing for everyday wear, in the city or outdoors. The garments are cut for ease of movement, made in the UK from lightweight, easy-care technical materials, and designed to be worn for years rather than seasons.
Why we do it differently
The outdoor industry has been questioning the environmental cost of clothing since the mid-1990s. Less than 1% of clothing is recycled, and microfibres and plastics keep reaching the ocean. Óna’s response is slow design, an idea Jane has been developing since 2003/4. In practice that means:
- Less is more. Ageless, enduring style instead of transient fashion.
- Inspired by real stories. Our design research draws on authentic references, such as traditional Aran Islander clothing.
- Made for movement. Everyday garments with an ergonomic cut, comfortable on a city street or a hillside, for men and women.
- Made at true cost. Garments are made in the UK, and performance materials come primarily from Europe, with a transparent supply chain.
- Shaped by the people who wear them. Our designs keep evolving through co-design and wearer feedback.
